Making a Geode Soap

Several years ago when I visited the Natural Science museum, they were selling unopened geodes outside the main exhibits. It was a round rock that would fit in your hand; and after you bought one, you could have it cracked by a machine or tools they had, and see if you got any crystals inside. I was intrigued enough to look around, but too cheap to buy one, as it was not a guaranteed you would get crystals inside, and I like crystals!

Making crystal soaps has been one of my favorite things to do too. However, I have never attempted to make a full size soap geode. The closest thing I made was the agate soap embeds (agates being slices of geodes pretty much). So when I saw that the January challenge of the Soap Challenge Club would be making geode soaps, I was curious and decided to participate.

Here is the video of the making, and below are more pictures and supply list, recipe, etc, etc.etc!

Note: I am using a lye blend that includes Koh (Potassium hydroxide), mainly because I bought some for a project, did the project, now I have a lot leftover and want to use it up. Also because I have read that it helps increase bubbles, and my husband loves a bubbly soap. You can run use the link above to copy and modify the recipe, and get the amounts for just Naoh.
