When we moved to the States from El Salvador, one of the things my mom could not find in the stores was the equivalent to Avena Molida literally translated as “Ground Oats”. A powder she would use to make either an atol or a cold drink (with sugar, water, cinnamon). “But why? there is oat flour” you might say, or “you can grind it yourself”, you may venture. But it was different, it had a finer texture and it was easier to dissolve, it was meant for that.
Similarly, while making soap you have the option to grind the oats yourself, or use colloidal oatmeal. Grinding the oats will produce a coarser texture, ideal to add some exfoliation properties to the soap, while colloidal oatmeal will have a softer texture. Anyway, you can see why this soap, which also has honey and milk, reminded me of that drink. I chose to use colloidal oatmeal in it, and I made some faux oats with soap dough to decorate the top.

Additives
- 3 tsp colloidal oatmeal
- 3/4 tsp honey

Embeds
Made with Crystal Clear MP and this ice cube hexagon mold
(I filled a few cavities and then sliced the hexagons.) I had colored it with a small amount of copper colorant.
