Winter Wonderland

Winter Scene Soap
Winter Cold process Soap

Having grown up in a tropical country, and then lived most of my adult life in a place where it rarely snows, I must say a that when I hear the phrase “winter wonderland” I picture somewhere like the palace in the Frozen movie, something sparkly and enchanting, with snowflakes suspended in the air. However, upon listening to the lyrics of the Winter Wonderland song, it seems to me that a winter wonderland involves mainly snow, a fire, building a snowman in a meadow, and a blue bird leaving. So I tried to keep that in mind while making this soap.

This soap is a collaboration with Jennifer from Jen Spice, we agreed on using snowman as embeds in the soap. I made miniature snowman for mine, like the size of my fingernail:

And this time, instead of a 2-dimensional winter scene, like in last year soap. I went for a more 3-dimensional look.

Winter snow globe soap

I turned one of the soaps into a snowglobe. I actually did the same with the leftover soap and some embeds I had laying around.

My advise for snow globe soaps is this:

  • Use a very clear melt and pour base, I used Crystal clear from Wholesale Supplies.
  • Put the embedded object as close to the surface as possible, so it can be seen and appreciated better.
  • Do the melt and pour just a few days before using, gifting or selling the soap. Over time the colors of the embeds bleed and/or the melt and pour turns opaque, and you go from this to that: (not a big difference, but I notice it, and I don’t like it) granted my photo on the right does not have good lighting, but to me it still looks more opaque now)

I made them with soap dough or moldable soap. Here are some videos of how I made some of them, except this time I made them very small so I simplified them:
