soap making

Koala Soaps

In last week video (the design fail) I sneaked a koala embed with a Santa hat. He was originally part of this Koala soap loaf but there was not room for him there. (I like to make extras just in case).

So here is the rest of the gang. This soap is scented with a blend of eucalyptus and spearmint fragrances and is colored naturally with indigo and nettle leaf powder.

I chose Eucalyptus as part of the fragrance blend since this is what Koalas eat (Eucalyptus leaves). Koalas are very interesting (and cute!) creatures. I learned a lot about them HERE.

I was curious to see if I could get a similar result to Crafter’s Choice Eucalyptus Spearmint EO FO blend with the more affordable fragrances from Lone Star Candle. Unfortunately they are not the same, but it this not a bad blend. While Crafter’s Choice seems to have a predominantly minty scent, this blend leans more into the eucalyptus side. initially, there was a chemical smell to it but as the soap cured this dissipated.

Embeds

I made the embeds with soap dough. And I briefly explain the process in the video. Here is a mold that could work too.
