Making Soap Dough and Watermelons Embeds

I made these soap watermelon slices for a youtube collaboration with Valley Soaps. You can see how she used them in her channel here:

I made a special batch of soap dough to make the watermelons, as I did not have enough red or green color soap dough. Below is my recipe for it. When I started making soap dough, I used the recipes found in the books from Sorcery Soap. (Which have a lot of tips for working with soap dough, by the way, so I highly recommend them). However; because the humidity is high where I live, I have found that the below recipe works better for me, with less stickiness. You could buy the soap dough already made though, and you will then have a feel of what it should feel like.

Tools and equipment

Modelling equipment:

  • Acrylic Roller
  • Tissue Blade (These are very sharp and will cut “tissue”; so be very careful with them, make sure to hold them from short edge opposite the blade)

Mold:

Half oval cavity mold

Colorants:

(Each below will be dispersed into 4 oz of soap batter)

1/2 tsp Savage Green Mica from Nurture Soap from Nurture Soap dispersed in light colored olive oil prior

1/4 tsp of Fluorescent Neon Green from Nurture Soap

1/2 tsp + 1/8 tsp of Trial by Fire Mica (Red) dispersed in light colored oil

1/4 tsp of Green Oxide

1/2 tsp of Winter White Mica or you can leave a portion uncolored
