This soap was my entry for this month’s soap challenge, the clamshell technique, which was taught by Teri Endsley (from Tree Marie Worksoaps). The colors were chosen by my husband, and he also helped me while making it, which came really handy when adding the two colors to each pitcher. (He has really gotten into soap making ever since the collaborator challenge from last month.)
Here is the recipe I used, (My regular recipe plus an additional amount of fluid oils).
Below are the supplies used: (some are affiliate links, but I actually paid for and chose the products on my own)
- Equipment (Used the 8″ mold listed there)
- Fragrance: Hot pink Lime from Nature’s Garden
- 1 tsp of Lily pad green mica
- 1 tsp of Berry Twist Mica
- 1 tsp Azure Blue Mica
- 2 teaspoons of Winter White Mica (I could have used 3 if I wanted a lighter tone)
We dispersed each color into about 9 oz of soap batter, and the white into 28 oz of soap batter. Below is the video with the process too. Then we poured each color along with portion of the white into the funnel pitchers.
Our previous attempt looked similar, but the order of colors was more uniform, which we thought should change.

It seems to me that the more the soap travels down the mold (depending on the trace) it tends to get more distorted.
I initially had the idea of making a bright yellow and pink soap, but that did not go too well:

The colors were definitely not as strong as I wanted it, I did not use enough yellow, and the pour was too random, and to top it all off, the fragrance caused ricing toward the end.
Making this technique gave me the idea to make another soap with a similar pour, I should be sharing that in the future.
