As my youngest nephews grow older, I feel less apprehension at making soaps that look like food. However, I made the strawberries for this soap small enough that anyone would know they are not real.
My previous strawberry soap had almost life size strawberries. I found the fragrance for that soap too sweet though, so I was happy to have found Strawberry Kiwi from Lone Star Candle. It has a low vanillin content (0.39%), I have not seen any browning on the soaps even after 3 weeks. However, it is a fast moving fragrance!
The bars are smaller than my regular bars, you can check out the Store to get yours! My teen niece particularly liked it, however, I think most children would too.
The making of the Soap
Equipment and supplies used:
- Standard soap making equipment
- Square silicone mold (or adjust recipe below to your mold size in link above, just copy and Save as New) (Aff link)
- 1 teaspoon of pink mica divided in 1/4 and 3/4. First I added only 1/4 tsp and separated a small portion for piping, to remaining soap, I added the remaining 3/4 tsp.
- 2 oz Strawberry Kiwi fragrance or any other with vanillin content of 0.50% at the most.
- Soap dough for the embeds
- I will include the video of the strawberry making below, you would just need to roll a thin sheet of white or brow soap dough and wrap it around it to make it “chocolate covered”.
