I was happy to discover, though probably others had before me, that soap dough can easily stick to already cured soap.
Especially if you are only adding thin layers of it, like with an stencil. I had a few stencils from my scrapbooking supplies, and also a few from my face painting tools. However, I made some more for this project as I wanted specific pattern styles.
I have a Silhouette Cameo machine, so I was able to cut them with that. Here is what I used:
- Bars of soap that were already cured, but 3 day to 1 week old day old bars should work (you do not want it too soft).
- Soap dough or leftover soap that you have wrapped and kept from air exposure
- Stencils. I have this lace one and this flower one in the shop.
- An old credit card or any card that works as a scraper
There are several templates in the market as well, the sky is the limit! Contact me if you have ideas for a custom stencil I could make for you.
This template and this other one, are similar to the ones I made, by the way.
And if you have a Silhouette or Cricut machine, this is the material I used to make them.
