An alternative to Freezer Paper Liners

If there is one thing I hate to do, like hate it with all my heart, it is to waste time.  And money.  Which some people think are equivalents, but they are not, not always.  However, that is a subject for another day.

This hate or intensive dislike is what drives me to find more efficient ways to do certain tasks.  Another thing I dislike is spending money, if I cannot justify the purpose.

So, recognizing that I needed a bigger mold, and that I do not want to spend money on it, at least not until I decide how much bigger I really want the mold, I decided to go the DIY route.

I made a mold with cardboard, and I taped it to protect it from the soap batter.  But I was dreading lining it with freezer paper.  It takes me time and I am not good at it, I get wrinkles on the corners and it frustrates me.  So I was trying to think of a liner I could make,  something I could use multiple times and that did not cost me as much as a silicone liner.  Eventually I decided to go for flexible plastic, I bought several materials from the dollar store to experiment, but at the end it was the office supply store that had the answer.

I used an expanded legal size folder, (like this one): and I cut it to fit the size of the cardboard mold I made, leaving extra space on top to be able to pull it up.  It was a two part mold and you can watch the making of it here:

And you can see it in action in this video:

The video below shows on how I made one with a Dollar Tree cutting board sheet:
